These are some of the issues we’ve discussed:
- Barriers to participating experienced by women. Child care, shift work and other caring work came up here. Any more ideas are, of course, really welcome.
- We all sort of felt that the CLP meeting could be less formal and had some ideas like changing the arrangement of chairs so that they were in groups rather than rows, and doing more participatory stuff rather than always having speakers. For the democracy review, for instance, it might be useful to give a question to each group to discuss, so that all attendees took part in the review.
- 100 years of women’s suffrage. Everyone at the meetings thought a celebration of this would be brilliant. Suggestions were: a campaign to encourage women to vote, a march and a party. There was talk of the Votes for Women banner in the Tolson museum – we could perhaps make a new banner together.
