Mus Khan

DAL_cam_2_.jpgMusarrat Khan - Dalton      Elected 2015

Musarrat is a local family woman and is a graduate of Huddersfield University. She has 3 grown up children and now feels ready to stand for public office. Musarrat has worked full and part time as a counsellor, benefits advisor and housing officer in Kirklees, Bradford and Calderdale. Her work supporting former offenders and vulnerable people into housing and employment has given her important experience of a variety of people who have the need to access a range of council services.

On being selected, Musarrat said, ‘I feel privileged to be able to serve the people of Dalton. I have brought up my family here and so It is natural for me to try to put back into my community and help people both as individuals and to seek improvements for us all. I am well aware of the housing challenges and the need to help vulnerable young and elderly people all of whom have been undermined by the savage government cuts. I will now join my Labour councillor colleagues in directing resources to these key services and to help local community and resident groups who do so much to provide and maintain services."
